The features and
benefits of WattsUp Cycling classes
are unmatched by any other cycling
program in the GTA. WattsUp Cycling is founded on the following principles:
- Power-based riding is the most efficient way to train on a bike
- People ride harder and more consistently in a group environment than they do on their own
- Athletes' fitness levels can be quantified with regular performance testing
- Consistent training = the most effective training
The WattsUp Cycling core program is a twice-weekly class of 90 minutes on a CompuTrainer, led by an experienced coach/athlete. The classes are devised based on an annual periodized cycling program aimed to produce peak performance during the summer months. Each WattsUp athlete undergoes regular performance testing throughout the year so as to monitor their fitness improvements. Such monitoring thus allows the athlete to train at their appropriate levels as their fitness changes. Making for a personalized, effective training program all in the atmosphere of a group setting.
WattsUp Cycling is located at 100 Sunrise Avenue, Toronto. Just four minutes south east of the DVP-Eglinton interchange. A variety of services/class offerings are available.
Features
- All riding is done on the industry-leading indoor bike trainer: CompuTrainer.
- Instructor led classes. Led by instructors who care about your performance. Instructors who are certified in the field of cycling/triathlon coaching...who are competitive athletes themselves...or both.
- You will undergo regular performance testing when part of any WattsUp Cycling program (except for WattsUp on the Weekend). Your current fitness levels are measured and your individual power training zones are determined during the test. The power training zones are utilized straight away in your next WattsUp Cycling class.
- Increased motivation as a result of the group environment. It's a rare individual who trains as hard on their own as they do in a group. We train hard (and smart!) at WattsUp Cycling.
- Time efficient. A 90 minute class at WattsUp would be equivalent to 2 hours or more of on-the-road focused riding.
- Accountability. With mandatory regular performance tests throughout the year, the athlete remains accountable to the program and the program remains accountable to the athlete.
- Music. Upbeat lively music complements the class environment, but is not the central feature of the classes.
- Accessibility. Four minutes from the DVP and Eglinton, plenty of free parking, spacious studio and facility. Terrific access for east Toronto, the Beaches, Scarborough, and North York.
- Natural light throughout our training studio.
- A variety of class times throughout the week to choose from so as to suit your schedule.
