Our Fees Explained
Athletes have commented that our fees seem high in comparison to other indoor cycling programs available to them. We are fully aware that this is the case. But we feel confidently that once you have tried WattsUp Cycling for a few months that you will be convinced it was money well spent.
Our fees are what they are because:
- You will be riding use the industry-standard indoor cycling trainer: CompuTrainer.
- You will be riding in what is unofficially the single largest CompuTrainer studio in North America.
- CompuTrainer allows you to ride using power (ie, Watts) as your primary intensity measure.
- Power is a superior intensity measure to heart rate, speed, and perceived exertion.
- Training with power keeps your workout precise, accurate, and quantifiable. You do not cycle according to heart rate or perceived effort levels like the vast majority of indoor cycling classes would have you do.
- You will undergo regular performance testing when part of any WattsUp Cycling program (except for WattsUp on the Weekend). Your current fitness levels are measured and your individual power training zones are determined during the test. The power training zones are utilized straight away in your next WattsUp Cycling class.
- Your testing is performed three times throughout the year to allow for tracking of your fitness improvements. Regular testing ensures that you are working at your current, appropriate fitness levels all year long.
- You use your bike during class. This keeps the fitness gains specific to your bike, your position, your comfort zone. We do not ask you to conform to a foreign piece of biking equipment, which may or may not be suitable to your anatomy, like the vast majority of indoor cycling programs do.
- You will experience a periodized annual training program when you ride with WattsUp Cycling. This means that you train easy when appropriate, hard when appropriate, and recovery when appropriate. Your program is designed to have your fitness levels peak for the summer months: June through August. For a large percentage of our clients, this is when they take their fitness outside and compete in triathlons, duathlons, and cycling races. (Though not all of our athletes race competitively.)
- We are offering an indoor cycling program that is truly unique to the GTA market. Indoor power-based cycling incorporating regular performance testing over a periodized year of training...there's none other like it in the GTA.
- You will be part of a focused indoor cycling program. Cycling is what we do. We do not sell bikes. We do not provide health care. We are not a gym. We cycle, indoors, year round. We get you fit and strong and fast on your bike.
- You will experience flexibility in your program which enables you to make up for any missed classes. Each of our WattsUp Light, WattsUp Standard, and WattsUp on the Weekend programs have options where you can make up any missed classes, penalty-free, so long as the made up classes are in the same calendar month as the missed classes.
- You will experience consistency which we feel is the single most important determinant of your success. By committing to our program you are committing to consistency, and we help keep you that way.
- Our location within the GTA is terrific. Easily accessible from the DVP, Eglinton Ave, Victoria Park Rd, and Don Mills Rd.
- We have an abundance of free parking on site.
